那些听道的人，应当：

  1. 以勤勉（箴8:34）34）、预备（彼前2:1-2；2；路8:18）18）和祷告（诗119:18；18；弗6:18-19）19）之心来听道；
  2. 对于所听到的内容要考查圣经（徒17:11）11）；
  3. 以信心（来4:2）2）、爱心（帖后2:10）10）、谦卑（雅1:21）21）和愿意的心（徒17:11）11），把所听到的真理作为上帝之道予以领受（帖前2:13）13）；
  4. 默想（路9:44；44；来2:1）1），谈论（路24:14；14；申6:6-7）7）；
  5. 藏在心里（箴2:1；1；诗119:11）11）；
  6. 并在自己的生命中结出果子来（路8:15；15；雅1:25）25）。
